5 Ideas to Keep Kids Engaged Before Winter Break + Some Freebies!
As an elementary school teacher, I am always on the hunt for creative and engaging ways to keep my kids’ attention on the last few days before winter break. Being the teacher for the Gifted and Talented, I like to ensure that these activities are meaningful and academic while still being fun and festive. 1. Inferencing with Pictures – Polar Express Themed

2. Make Cards
Have your students show their appreciation for their other teachers, like specials teachers, and school staff, like custodians, by making cards for them and delivering them before they go on break!
3. Student Feedback Survey
Since we are about halfway done with the school year, now is a good time to get some input from your students on how they feel about your class. This gives them voice, makes them feel heard and valued, and can help improve classroom management and climate. I created a Google Form to make this easy and anonymous.

4. Students Teach the Class Project
Let students take on the lesson planning and teaching on the last few days of school. They will LOVE taking on the role of teacher as they teach their classmates about a topic of interest to them! Gifted kids especially will enjoy sharing their unique passions and interests, since they often don’t get the chance.
