What if I told you that I have the perfect project for ANY subject area, and ANY topic? What if I also told you that you get this project in a no prep digital format?! Well, I have good news for you because I created a podcasting project that is a must have for any upper elementary, middle school, or even high school classroom. Keep reading to find out 3 of the many benefits that come along with creating a class podcast!
#1 – It’s perfect for ANY subject area & topic
Think about the podcasts you listen to, and about how many podcasts there are out there. They cover all kinds of subjects and topics from education, to comedy, to true crime – and so much more.
Creating a class podcast is perfect for any class, and any subject! My students use our class podcast to discuss the novels that we read. But it can be used in so many other ways, too. Students can use this format to present their writing, discuss an important topic they learned in history, or share scientific findings! Students can even use their podcast to explain new math concepts.
#2 It’s engaging & can be student-led
My students LOVE planning out and recording their podcast episodes. They are so engaged and have so much fun with it! After the first episode, this project became completely student-led – from choosing the topic, to writing a script, and recording the episode! When you make learning fun, students will be engaged and eager to participate.
#3 It’s a great way to share what’s going on in the classroom with your student’s parents and families
I always love finding ways to creatively share what we are learning with my student’s families. I think it’s so important to keep them in the loop, and to celebrate the amazing things their students are doing throughout the year!
The podcast is the perfect way to share what’s going on in the classroom, and it’s extra special that parents get to hear their child’s voice telling them all about it! And, since it’s so unique, parents will be excited to listen to each episode. It’s so much more meaningful than just sending student work home in their backpacks!
