Why Donors Choose is Better Than an Amazon Wishlist + Special Offer!

Donors Choose

I have to share something with you because if you haven’t utilized this resource yet – it might just be a game changer. I’m talking about a website and nonprofit called Donors Choose. If you are like me, you have heard about this site before but never actually utilized it for your own classroom. I even created an account during my first year as a teacher, but I never submitted a project because I thought it wouldn’t get funded…

Well, I decided to submit a project this school year and was SHOCKED and excited when it was fully funded! I was able to get four Botley robots for my kids! I would have never been able to provide those robots for my students with money out of my own pocket, but thanks to generous donations we now have enough for students to use in small groups to explore coding and robotics!

What I didn’t know about Donors Choose is that it’s not just individuals in the community who can donate to your project. There are also so many companies that partner with Donors Choose to fund teacher’s projects! Companies like Allstate, Google, Sonic + so many more! This made me a lot more confident that my project would get funded – because these companies are just waiting to fund your project! That’s what makes it even better than an Amazon wishlist.

I’m sharing all this with you because Donors Choose has truly made such a positive impact in my classroom, and I want you to feel the excitement that my students and I felt when our first project was fully funded!

I HIGHLY encourage you to submit your first project today!

Not sure what to submit? Here are a few of my top ideas!

  1. Basic Classroom Supplies – Want all your kids to have matching folders? Need more pencils? You can submit a project requesting all the classroom supplies you need!
  2. Special Projects – Are your kids doing a special project to support the community? You can request the supplies they need for their project!
  3. STEM and Tech Tools – Want to incorporate hands-on STEM and tech experiences in your classroom but don’t have the money to spend on materials? Submit a project requesting some cool new resources for your kids!
  4. Snacks – If you or your families are responsible for providing snacks to your students, you can ask for snack donations on Donors Choose!
  5. Makerspace – Want to start a Maker Space but don’t have the supplies? That’s a perfect Donors Choose project!
